It must be monday if lemons are on special. Mexican Madness at All Nations Backpackers.

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Ola to my fellow Melbourne Backpackers! What a fantastic effort by the all consuming, All Nations Backpackers tequila army last night, Mexican Monday. The 101 tequila club has its first member with non other than yours truly, el gRInGO, consuming my hundred and first tequila last night, after embarking on the campaign only two weeks ago. But many records were broken last night, BJ, consumed 33 tequila’s in one sitting.

But it was the team, consisting of mainly melbourne backpackers, living in the party hostel in Melbourne, ALL NATIONS. Put in a phenomenal effort with a total of 227 shots consumed in one night, UNFKNBLVBLE! Needless to say there have been many a sighting of poor sore headed gringo’s spread across the hostel this morning. But being a backpacker is not always about self-inflicted intoxication endurance, Half the backpackers today have gone to Philip Island to check out some penguins, what better way to ignore that hangover. Who doesn’t love penguins? And who doesn’t LOVE ALL NATIONS Backpackers!?

Fiestas & Rock Stars & a Free Stray Bus Pass at Nomads Capital

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

We at Nomads Capital Backpackers Hostel in Wellington are getting our Mullet wigs and leather pants ready for the Rock n Roll party this Friday night (28 November) at Blend Bar. I’ve dusted off the leopard print tights and have been rocking out to my favourite “Hair Bands” in preparation for a night that is to be truly fantastic! Best Costume wins a FREE Stray Travel Pass

Our Latin Party at Nomads Capital’s hostel bar Blend last Friday night went long and loud. We got more noise complaints than we ever have and frankly I’m quite proud of that. Even the non Latin folk came out for the fun.

People were partying into the wee hours of the night in the bar, and then dancing in the streets long after that. A great party was had by all. We found Lenny in the Lounge at Nomads Capital Backpackers the morning like this.

Pants: Destroyed at All Nations Backpackers, Melbourne.

Monday, November 17th, 2008

You know you are drunk when you are peering into the Backpacker hostels’ liquor licence trying to figure out if it is technically legal to buy another round of shots after the bar has closed and you already know that you can’t.

It was at this exact moment that Tyler, All Nations Backpackers Hostels’ resident Van Wildest, in all his wisdom decided that he should sneak up behind me and pull down my pants. On a scale of 1 – 10 of outrageousness, a little stunt like this would register in decimals I must concurr. However a combination of subtle (yet for this episode, integral) precautionary measures have been in place over the last few weeks related to my belt. My belt is a little old, so I have made some adjustments to ensure it maintains more than enough strength to hold up my pants.

I guess our Melbourne backpacker Tyler has a bit more strength than he thought, I guess my pants were a bit older, I guess my belt adjustments are a little too good. But because the man grabbed me by the back pockets and yanked them at an extreme pace with force, the integrity of my trousers was destroyed, and he ripped them clean in half. The back half to be precise. I was left stranded at the window, with my new tight white undies on full display.

But when the spotlight is burning, you fight fire with fire. I took the shredded fabric, tied it around my head and had an absolute belter of a Sunday session at a backpackers Bar across the road. It was a three figure subtraction from this backpackers savings account, and the last thing anyone saw of el gRInGO was the man galloping off and into the darkness. Don’t be concerned, just LOVE ALL NATIONS BACKPACKERS!

Pie eating at Nomads Industry Melbourne

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Eating pie contest!

Because it was Bobby’s birthday there was a big eating pie contest at Nomads Industry backpackers hostel in Melbourne. I know it doesn’t sounds logical, having a pie contest on your birthday but it was great fun. Who can say: ‘I got a pie contest on my birthday’?

The 2 important rules: the person who eats the most pie wins the money, first one out has to scull a litre of milk. Mark is the big pie master from Industry Backpackers now on, beating everyone with an impressive amount of 24 pies. His legendary words were: ‘I could have eaten more’. Charlie our cooking star was not a star at sculling his litre of milk. His legendary words didn’t make it. (see pictures below).

Go Charly!

Cheers

Nomads Industry Backpackers visit little, little penguins!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

What a time, what a time. I’m here at Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel for almost two months already and I decided I love Melbourne, Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel, Australia and doing tours! (and all the things I forgot to wrote down). I also decided to go brown instead of blonde. Brunettes have more fun? Yes, read below!

The nobbies

Because I don’t want to get lazy and want to discover everything around and in Melbourne I try to go on a tour every two weeks when I’m here at Nomads Industry Backpackers. Last week I did the Philip island tour. The great ocean road tour that I did before was great and so was the Philip island tour. Seeing all those animals that are normally in the zoo in Holland without a fence was really great. It was funny though that I was allowed to feed the kangaroo but I wasn’t allowed to feed the goat. Strange dutchies as we are, feeding goats all the time.

First we went to a winery, I felt a bit out of place there. Everyone was tasting the wine as they were professional wine tasters. But we were just drinking the wine (wine is to drink, that’s what we thought). After the great wine experience up to Maru wildlife centre. Seeing all the Australian animals was cool. The first time I saw all these they were dead already in the Melbourne museum. Marlou and Anne took care of the feeding part of the tour, they fed all the animals while I was making pretty pictures and being careful not to get attacked.

After all of the antipasti (and the pizza) we went to the Nobbies. When we arrived at the Nobbies, the wind almost blew us away. It was a nice view though, the Nobbies and the rough sea getting to each other. After the Nobbies (the main dish) up to a cold cold dessert, the penguin parade. It already started raining and we didn’t brought a rain coat (we are in Australia?). It was touristic but that didn’t mattered.

The penguin parade was a cold, fun, cold and unforgettable experience. When in your life you are watching penguins heading back to their homes out of the sea? Exactly that’s why it was so special. We weren’t aloud to make pictures, because it damages the penguins eyes and I think the experience is away then. You have to check it our yourself and see the penguins hopping on land group by group. Visit Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel, Melbourne and jump on this tour, Adorable!

Cheers!

Westend Backpackers rocks the Gaff’s Second Annual White Party

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

It was yet again another great day in Sydney and an even better day to be having a free beach BBQ! It was a record 31 degrees and the perfect setting for a free beach BBQ with our two Sydney Backpackers Hostels, Westend Backpackers and Maze Backpackers.

There are many free activities hosted throughout the week. Westend backpackers hostel is one of the cheapest youth hostels in Sydneys central business district.

ANGEL AND LUCY

It was a wonderful Saturday on the beach and an even better night at the Gaff. The Gaff’s second annual white party was a huge success!!! It was the simplest of themes and worked out really well. When the lights went off and the black lights came on it was a sight to remember!

The party lasted until the early hours in the morning and when some of the Sydney Backpackers left, the sun was out high in the sky. It is lucky that we had an angel with us to make sure we all made it back to our youh hostels safely. Yet again another successful fancy dress theme party at Westend Backpackers Sydney!
