Away from home for Christmas, never fear the Fat Camel Backpackers Bar and Hostel is here to provide all you backpackers with a little slice of a New Zealand Christmas.

If you are staying in downtown Auckland this Christmas come down to the Fat Camel Backpackers where we will be hosting our annual traditional feast.  If you are backpacking there is no need to feel homesick when you are with the Fat Camel family.

The New Zealand Herald ran an article today about the December Mazayin Dhafra Camel Festival, held in the western desert region of Abu Dhabi.

The Camel Festival involves a beauty contest for our furry friends, they are judged on the quality of their whiskers, nose condition, length and posture of the neck, the shape of the hump, shininess of the coat and the length of the toe parting. Sounds crazy!

Saturday 4th October was a huge night at Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers in central Auckland. We farewelled the wonderful Magic driver Rangi, Bert from the Magic office, as well as celebrating the 21st birthday of our own staff member at Fat Camel Backpackers, the lovely travel agent Lauren.

Crazy dance moves and loud singing were seen and heard all night in our Auckland Bar, along with loads of laughs and fun! Our Auckland Backpackers had a great night mixing with locals and other guests.

Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers Hostel in central Auckland are very sad to be saying goodbye to Rangi.

Rangi stays at our Auckland hostel every week as he drives a backpacker tour bus for Magic Travellers Network. Staff and guests at the Fat Camel Hostel will miss him loads! We hope he comes back to see us  in our central Auckland backpacker bar.
