Euro Cup 2008 was watched live in the Cairns Nomads Serpent Backpackers Hostel. Last Friday Holland was playing France, and the Nomads Serpent Backpackers Bar filled with supporters!

The famous orange colour for the Dutch supporters was taking over the room. The game was amazing and both teams played great. A quick start for Holland…within 10 minutes the Dutchies scored their first goal! The Cairns Backpackers went crazy as the excitement grew in anticipation for the next goal!

The score was 4-1 in the end with Holland as the winner. All the Dutch Backpackers were celebrating while the French fans went quietly to their rooms!

Some of the Serpent Backpackers Hostel Cairns staff recently took a day trip out to the Great Barrier Reef and had a fantastic time!

The Coral Reef is beautiful this time of year, there is an abundance of marine life to see!  Travellers, just like the staff, are getting excited here in Cairns at the Serpent Backpackers Hostel for the Minke Whale season, which is just around the corner.

There are many trips that go up to the Cod Hole, giving Cairns Backpackers a chance to get up  close and personal with these magnificant creatures! The 30th of April was a special day for the Dutch Interns here at Nomads Serpent Backpackers Hostel in Cairns!!! They brought their celebration day to Australia…the birthday of their past Queen. The Serpent Backpackers Bar was decked out in all kinds of decorations!

Orange was the color of the night and it was the colour of the body spray that they sprayed on every unsuspecting person! There were many activites planned for the celebration, in the Serpent Backpackers Bar.

The Cairns Backpackers interns showed their skills in the joint rolling competion, and the Spijker Poepen! After all the guests had their free meal in the Cairns Backpackers Bar, which was fittingly Hutspot (one of the dutch specialties) they got into some real dutch beer!

The Cairns Serpent Hostel Bar went through ALOT of Grolsch and Heineken! Even though not everyone was Dutch, they sure knew about Queens Day by the end of the night!
