Spandex Party at Sydney Nomads Hostels

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Well hello extremely loyal readers… We felt as though our Sydney Backpackers were getting bored, so youth hostel staff at Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel and Nomads Westend Backpackers Hostel decided to throw a Spandex party…

The posters were all over Nomads Maze Hostel and read, SPANDEX PARTY FRIDAY NIGHT - Free Wine for an hour at 8pm and two for one drinks at the bar! The tighter and brighter, the better! SPANDEX- THE ART OF LOOKING GOOD WHILST WEARING THE TIGHTEST CLOTHES POSSIBLE!!

So we were fairly merry, to say the least, especially as The Maze Backpackers drank 45 litres!!!! Here are some of the most ridiculous pictures from the night, and i think you’ll find that the pictures tell their own story!!!

Maze Backpacker Staff go Mad in Byron Bay!

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

It was the weekend just gone, before World Youth Week and at this Sydney Backpackers Hostel our GLORIOUS bosses at  the centrally located Nomads Maze Youth Hostel decided to give a few of the hostel staff a long weekend holiday…!! (piss up!)

So the day started with Zorbing, to refresh us after the “most comfortable coach travel that money can buy” LOL… It seems that the management at our Sydney Backpackers don’t want to fork out the money to fly me and my colleagues 1st class!!!

We organised our trip with the help of our knowledgable colleagues at the Maze Backpackers reception and travel desk (we won’t ever recommend something we haven’t done ourselves, so you can be assured of great advice).

Well the Zorbing went down a storm, as you can see from the pictures courtesy of this youth hostel staff members camera, which (luckily) happens to be waterproof…. (thank god or it would have cost me a years wages!) we even managed to make a video of the Zorb from the inside which looks absolutely amazing.

Really good value for money and really good fun and definitely worth the coach trip from our Sydney Backpackers Hostel.

What made the trip for me personally, was the next trip that the generous Maze Backpackers Hostel and Nomads Westend Backpackers Hostel (situated across the road from us in central Sydney) kindly organised for myself, two of our cleaners and one of the receptionists!

- The place to stay, by the way, is The Arts Factory Backpackers Lodge (Byron Bay). It’s a fantastic place set in 5 acres of subtropical “jungle”, with a range of accommodation from Island Bungalows, teepees, dorms or private rooms!

To find out more about our trip, which included a visit to world famous Nimbin, just pop into any one of our Nomads Hostels like ours - Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel, central Sydney, rated “one of the Best Hostels in Australia” by ‘Pool Shark’ Richard Roper.

SAD TIMES AT NOMADS MAZE BACKPACKERS HOSTEL - so we are throwing a Smurf Party in their honour!!

At The Maze Backpackers Accommodation, Sydney we think of ourselves as a welcoming community, and some of the most warming were in fact the Paddys’ and they are one of the longest serving groups at our Sydney youth hostel.

Having been at this Centrally located Backpackers Hostel for almost a year they’ve left a fair few marks….

I know I should be writing about the hostel and what we do and where we go out, but this is why you should stay at our Nomads Maze Backpackers in Sydney… We like to think we attract the friendliest and nicest backpackers out there.

Be part of the Nomads Family and come and visit us at Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel in central Sydney to see why our Irish friends stayed with us for so long!

Maze Girls Gone Wild at World Bar? MAYBE NOT!! Ha

Monday, July 7th, 2008

It seems that there has been a questioning of the gender of certain members of Nomads backpackers hostels Sydney!

We are sorry to tell our loyal readers that we must now finally be recognised as two of the premier party hostels in the country due to the success of our far from straight long termers!! In case you dont remember they are Nomads Westend Backpackers Hostel and Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel located in Central Sydney on Pitt Street.

Now I can talk about what really happens in these two party hostels in the city….

Tuesday was World Bar night, and in almost typical fashion, we had a cross dressing night…. Frrreeee Champpaaggnnee… people!! There is method to this Nomad’s Hostel’s Entertainers absolute and utter madness…. free wine warmed up the night and as the photos of some of the guys show, we had a blast.

With the backpackers lapping up the goon provided by The Maze Backpackers Hostel we decided to catch the Party Bus straight through the cross (which is where you shouldn’t stay by the way!!BORING) past burger fuel (AMAZING -orgasmic- burgers!!) and to The World Bar.. Everyone from the Nomads Backpackers Hostel went straight in and got their drinks and were soon ushered towards The Karaoke Room to hear me and friends sing ………………Gloria Gaynor

          …….I Will Survive

It turns out that, Maze Backpackers are NOT shy, in fact, far from it…

The imfamous World Bar Teapots were in fashion last night, especially due to the fact that both the Nomads Property’s in Sydney - The Maze and Westend give us loads of discount vouchers, like $10 teapots..!

Thats right, we loooovvve $10 Teapots

And then by the end of the night the sexy looking lads succumbed to their masculine tendancies!! Heres a couple of pictures from taken from the eyes of our Nomads bosses!!! argh….. ugly tree springs to mind!!

And the kiss from that lovely, young sober lady there, will end this little chapter of the average day at Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel with the entertaining and obviously stimulating STAFF!!!

Nomads Maze Backpackers Sydney - WE’RE BACK BABY!!

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

The old Entertainment Managers reunite at one of the “HOTTEST” nights that Maze Backpackers Hostel Sydney has to offer!!

It was all about the entertainment guys on friday night at this Nomads Hostel…… with the old entertainment guy, Paul MacNamara,  returning to his long lost friend and partner in crime Matthew Polowyk (entertainment manager) of Nomads Westend Backpackers Hostel!!

The friendly staff and backpackers of Sydney Youth Hostels The Maze and Nomads Westend also happened to be celebrating the 4th of July…. although some of the backpackers happened to be doing it in their own ’special’ ways.

Toga seemed to be the main theme at the youth hostels on Pitt Street with many of the backpackers adorning their bedsheets and strutting from the hostel, heads held high following Paul and Matt who were dressed rather less respectably than the rest of the Nomads Hostel backpackers…

With Matt, the Nomads Westend Backpackers Hostel entertainer flaunting himself dressed as the naked cowboy, who runs around New York City with just a guitar, and Paul The Maze backpackers hostels entertainer mixing it up as a white Apollo Creed(Rocky 1, 2 + 3) FACT!!

The night was a fantastic party although it was just a warm up for the upcoming spandex party…!! Organised by these two Sydney Backpackers Hostels and to be held at Scubar!! Its all about the spandex baby!!!

Cowboys and Indians INVADE Sydney Backpackers Hostel!!!!

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

The Nomads Backpackers Hostels on Pitt Street in Sydney always deliver the most entertaining and enjoyable nights out around the city!! With Maze Hostel being one of the cheapest hostels in Sydney, it still gives more free stuff than anywhere else!!

And because we’re such a community here, when one of our staff members leave, its PARTY TIME!! Even though our beloved entetrtainment guy left, he still managed to throw an awesome party, involving no less than 60 people all dressed as cowboys and indians, but with a few stragglers such as ’superwomen’ and the ‘Riddler’ but they were more than welcomed!!

Maze Backpackers Hostel started by giving away FREE goon!! (the backpackers stable diet -(also contains milk, eggs and fish!!) - with the music pumping, this Sydney Youth Hostel was in full swing and started to attract more guests!  So what started as a kind of leaving party, turned into a giant mob of people, all singing and dancing on our way to Side Bar with the crowd of ’superheros’ leading the way!!

Live music at Side Bar really helped the guys from the cheapest backpackers hostel in Sydney have a great night, with the night being made even better by the MAZE TEAM who organised and looked after everyone, but the main praise for the night going so well should be given to the fact that at Maze Backpackers Hostel Sydney we give FREE goon and of course, 2 for 1 drinks!!!!

Westend vs. Maze Sunday Football Friendly

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

It was a glorious Sunday in Sydney and the perfect setting for the much anticipated football match between Legend Has it Westend and the Maze!!! Two rival Nomads hostels that are located right across the streetfrom one another. There was lots of anticipation for the  game as over 80 people turned out for the match. The Maze has been doing training sessions for the past few weeks and were definitely the better side with a surprising blow out.

Westend was out matched but not out classed. The results of the game was not in Westends favour but it was a hard fought game. The game featured many injuries which included no less then 3 broken fingers and a chipped knee. It was definitely a battle on the field and Westend is determined to start some training sessions and get ready for the next match.

With the Man of the Match Award going to Ruairi, and  with the final presentation of the Triangle Trophy to the Maze.  The cards have been dealt for some great test matches in the following comming weeks. So if you are good at football, Westend can use a couple of ringers.

The after party was held at the Gaff party bar and nightclub. It was a great night at the Gaff which featured $8 jugs all night long, Rob Henry on acoustic guitar, the famous Gaff  quiz, and a free roast dinner to top it all off. It was a great day on the field and a great night having a few drinks with the opponents. So football fans make your way down to Sydney to be part of this heated rivalry on the pitch. Just make sure you stay at Westend as we have never beaten the Maze and can use your help. CHEERS

Crazy Maze Youth Hostel prepares for World Youth Day

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Well all the Sydney backpackers down here at Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel have been warned they must be on their best behavior this month as we get ready to play our important role as the whole World looks on and Sydney comes to a standstill to Host World Youth Day 2008.

World Youth Day (WYD) is the largest youth event in the world and will be held in Sydney from Tuesday 15 to Sunday 20 July 2008. The Catholic church says it is close to achieving its pilgrims target for World Youth Day with 197,000 local and overseas Catholic youths headed for Sydney to see the Pope.

Backpackers and party people do not have to worry as we have kept a number of beds for our usual guests who are wanting to party it up at the Sydneys famous Maze Backpackers Hostel.

Please be aware that due to the busy period Sydney backpackers are warned to ensure that they pre-book and pay for all accommodation at Nomads Maze Backpackers for the month of July, so if your planning either to join in the festivities in town perhaps go and try your luck for a photo with Pope Benedict XVI or just to party it up with us at our youth hostel, please remember to plan ahead.

From all of us here at Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel we hope you have a wonderful day and hope to see you soon!!

Backpackers Hostels The Maze and Legend Has It… Westend Prepare to do Battle

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel and Legend Has It… Westend Backpackers Hostel in Sydney are organising a football game of epic proportions this Sunday at The Botanic Gardens.

Situated directly across the street from one another in the centrally located Pitt St, participants from the two Sydney youth hostels are often pitted against each other in drinking competitions, quiz nights, and rival chants from across the street.

“This will be no contest”, says slightly cocky entertainments Manager at Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel, Matt Murfitt (Kiwi Matt), “we will wipe the floor with their tears”.

Meanwhile Legend Has It… Westend backpackers are distributing flyers depicting football star Cristiano Ronaldo vs A Little Girl to denote their expectations for the game’s outcome. The game is one of several scheduled to take place over the coming months. Players include both long-term and short-term backpacking travellers from both youth hostels.

For up-to-date information on the out-come of the match, keep posted on this page. Click the following links for more information on Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostels activities or Legend Has It Westend Hostels activities.
