It really brought out the good the bad and the ugly as far as the Wellington backpackers singing talents where concerned. It turned into a battle of the long termers vs backpackers off the Stray bus.

Danny from the Stray bus ended up taking out the ultimate prize and title of Nomads Capital SingStar champion. Alisa one of the Work For Accommodation backpackers at Nomads Capital youth hostel coming in a close second.

Nomads Capital Youth Hostel Wellington Saves the Earth

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Nomads Capital backpackers hostel Wellington participated in New Zealand’s Earth Hour on the 29th of March. We turned off all our lights in our reception and common areas and spent the hour by candlelight. All the Wellington backpackers kicked up a stink when we had to turn off their TV but then they enjoyed the darkness and wouldn’t let us turn the lights back on after the hour was up (though the TV was a must!).

Though we only reduced our carbon footprint by a small amount Nomads Capital backpacker youth hostel is proud to be raising awareness and joining the battle to reduce the effects of global warming.

A Massive Easter Weekend for Wellington and Nomads Capital

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

It was a very busy Easter weekend at Nomads Capital backpackers youth hostel. Along with it being a long weekend and everyone taking the chance to relax and party it up, Wellington also hosted a series of international concerts.

Kicking off on Thursday night were the Smashing Pumpkins and Queens of the Stone Age rocking the TSB Bank Arena. A few of our infamous Nomads Capital long term backpacker guests managing to sneak in and enjoy the show free of charge in true backpacker style.

Saturday night was the first night of the two night Rock 2 Wellington Concert which included legends such as Alice Cooper, KISS, Lordi, Poison, Whitesnake and Ozzy Osbourne. Also on Saturday one of New Zealand’s oldest cricket grounds housed Sandwiches Summerset, a 12 hour concert with many New Zealand and international dub bands, including New Zealand’s Shape Shifter and Wellington’s own The Blackseeds.

On Sunday morning there were many tired faces and sore throats as the Wellington backpackers made the most of the free coffee and tea at Nomads Capital backpacker youth hostel to revitalize themselves before doing it all again on Sunday night.

After a big weekend of concerts, partying and not much sleep the backpackers here at Nomads Capital backpackers hostel settled in to a quiet week of behaving themselves and early nights…

Yeah right!
