Nomads Industry Backpackers farewells Penny

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel farewelled their legendary manager Penny last Friday with a few, not so quiet drinks on the sunny deck at Industry Bar and Lounge.

Penny leaves us for stunning Byron Bay where she will be opening Nomads newest flashpackers. Click here for information! Armed with her didgeridoo and hammock we are sure Penny will embrace the hippy lifestyle that Byron is renowned for…

Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel Staff would like to thank Penny for being such an ace boss and wish her the very best up in Byron Bay. Nick Morrissey is welcomed to the team as he takes over as general manager, joining our two Dutch newbies Anne and Annemiek.

Adios Penny from the Nomads Industry Team!

Nomads Serpent Cairns Backpackers dreams away

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Charming, hot bodies and smooth moves. Are we talking about the crew at Nomads Serpent Cairns Backpackers?

Maybe…. But in this case we are actually talking about the Sydney Hotshots that came to visit Cairns last week.  Of course we just had to be there, getting in early with some nice beers; we’re ready to go. There was only 4 of them and the moves weren’t synchronised or that hot…. But who cares, they were good looking, stripping down to their underwear and that’s all we need!

If we would go again? Probably not, might as well stay at our Serpent Cairns Backpackers Bar and watch some of our guests strip or dance on the tables.

Maze Backpackers enjoy Oktoberfest!

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Last nights entertainment for the party animals at Maze Backpackers Hostel and Westend Backpackers Hostel had a distinctly Germanic theme. The Sydney backpackers all headed out to The Gaff to celebrate the famous Oktoberfest, complete with cheap drinks, loud music and costumes.

Seriously, never have so many braces been seen in one place, it was like a scene from the Sound of Music!! After downing several half litres of beer, I (Kirsty), decided to get naked and dance with a Yak, before running through the streets of Sydney screaming lyrics from 1960’s pop classics accompanied by a flock of rabid sheep! (Ok so the last part may not be completely true but my colleagues here at Maze Backpackers thought it was funny!)

What is it with the Queen’s Head and Nomads Hostels?

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Tuesday evening was another drunken night of fun experienced by the backpackers from Sydneys Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel. We had an awesome night at World Bar listening to Monkey Wrench - the Foo Fighters tribute band.

The naughty crew from Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel and Westend Backpackers Hostel decided that it would be funny to drop a coin in every one of my drinks throughout the night. I (Kirsty) may be new to entertainments here at Maze Backpackers but I have stayed here a while so I am very familiar with the ‘Queens Head’ drinking game. Unfortunately for me I wasn’t on the ball so everytime someone dropped a coin into my pint I had to down the lot to Save the Queen!

Is this just a game played by Sydney backpackers backpackers or is it well known???????? Needless to say it was a bit of a messy night which everyone thoroughly enjoyed! Check out some of the photos!

Save the Queen!

Maze Backpackers Hostels, Sydney - Killer Pool Competition

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Last night saw Maze Backpackers Hostel weekly Killer Pool Competition get pretty heated! Allan and Nga, two notorious pool sharks living at our Sydney Youth Hostel, fought it out in the final - each with 3 lifes left.

It was a very close competition and I’m pleased it didn’t actually lead to anyone killing each other! Congratulations to Nga who won the $50 bar tab.  I look forward to seeing both Allan and Nga playing a re-match at Maze Backpackers Hostel this week.

Also looking forward to seeing what the talent is at Maze Backpackers’ Killer Pool Competition next Monday! Will Nga be knocked off the top spot!?! Another $50 bar tab to be won!

Westend Backpackers rocks the Gaff’s Second Annual White Party

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

It was yet again another great day in Sydney and an even better day to be having a free beach BBQ! It was a record 31 degrees and the perfect setting for a free beach BBQ with our two Sydney Backpackers Hostels, Westend Backpackers and Maze Backpackers.

There are many free activities hosted throughout the week. Westend backpackers hostel is one of the cheapest youth hostels in Sydneys central business district.

ANGEL AND LUCY

It was a wonderful Saturday on the beach and an even better night at the Gaff. The Gaff’s second annual white party was a huge success!!! It was the simplest of themes and worked out really well. When the lights went off and the black lights came on it was a sight to remember!

The party lasted until the early hours in the morning and when some of the Sydney Backpackers left, the sun was out high in the sky. It is lucky that we had an angel with us to make sure we all made it back to our youh hostels safely. Yet again another successful fancy dress theme party at Westend Backpackers Sydney!

Sydneys Maze Backpackers were Mad Hatters

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Allan the Cowboy

It was yet another crazy night of fun put on by Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel, one of Sydney’s best known youth hostels. Maze Backpackers Hostel offers free activities every day of the week and with its central location it is just a short walk to some of the best nightclubs.

Friday saw us buy, make and borrow some funky hats so we could all look super cool at Scubar! But first we enjoyed free wine and cheese at our central Sydney youth hostel.

We were an easy crowd to spot! Check out some of the best photos from the night and bring on the next night of madness organised by Nomads Maze Backpackers Hostel.
