Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel staff proved they can party just as hard as our Melbourne Backpackers Hostel guests as they cut loose last Wednesday night at the Industry staff party.

The Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel team kicked the night off with a Jaegertrain, Nomads Industry’s signature drink, before settling in for the long haul at a local pub.

General manager Penny plied her staff with copious amounts of wine and champagne, and as the night wore on general debauchery ensued..

Encouraged by the Penathon, the Nomads Industry team exhibited some seriously unruly behaviour, typical of backpackers hostel staff, where hidden desires were revealed..

…and a few misadventures later, certain staff were caught doing the walk of shame through the hostel, much to the amusement of the receptionist suffering on the early morning shift.

A great night was had by all, and some staff even managed to recover in time for the legendary Bombastic Thursday Night at Industry Bar and Lounge.

Nomads Esplanade Backpackers Hostel has new mascots! 2 kittens called Dudley and Georgie joined the team of Esplanade Backpackers, Hostel89 and Jimmy’s and welcome backpackers with a big meeoww;). They were found by the management and are now involved in the every day business of this Cairns backpackers.

They all just love them. Nobody can ignore them really when playing behind the reception or sitting on the desk welcoming everybody into the Cairns youth hostel. They are only 7 weeks old and soooooooo cute.

Staff response:

We enjoy the kittens’ company every day and appreciate their help in messing up the desk and office here at Esplanade Backpackers ;). So the training will take a little while as it is sometimes with new staff…;).

On Saturday the 23rd of August Nomads Fusion Backpackers Hostel, Auckland took it’s international backpackers to the match Auckland - Manawatu. That’s not all though…for only $30 they got a nice brunch at the Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers Hostel (just down the road) and 2 beers.

At 1.30pm the Magic Bus took them to the game that started at 2.35pm. Of course the Auckland Backpackers also got return transport back to their Nomads hostel. There are still tickets available for the next rugby match on Saturday the 6th September so be quick to not miss out on this opportunity!!!

Recently the staff of Nomads Esplanade Backpackers and Cairns Beach House Backpackers were lucky enough to experience an afternoon of sailing with Prosail from the beautiful Whitsundays area. Allen and his team have over 25years of sailing experience, which made for a very knowledgeable and fun filled day.

After a short talk to let us Cairns backpackers know about the different vessels that the company has, it was time to go out on the water. Even though the weather was quite bad and windy the team really knew what they were doing. It wasn’t until we were safely docked did we then find out that most of the crew were conducting their Intro to Yachtmasters Course which is a 23 day program on offer.

Arts Factory Backpackers Lodge.

It was yet again another free event put on by Westend Backpackers Hostel, one of Sydney’s premiere youth hostels. Westend Backpackers Hostel Sydney offers free activities everyday of the week and with its central location it is just a short bus ride to the beach.  

The sun was shining there were whales in the ocean the scenery could not have been better.  The free BBQ for 70 people went as planned but there were a few unexpected guests in the ocean!!! Two whales were seen frolicking in the ocean less than 50 meters from the shore!!! It was an unbelieveable sight and was part of yet again a great day on the beach in Sydney.
