Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel in Melbourne tearfully bid their two favourite Dutch interns farewell last week as they set off on their own travel adventure in the land of cork hats and meat pies.

During their 4 month stint at our Melbourne Backpackers Hostel Sabine and Anne dazzled Nomads Industry guests with their superior local knowledge of the city and ace bar skills as they rocked Industry Bar and Lounge with their wildly popular themed parties.

The staff and guests at Nomads Industry Backpackers Hostel in Melbourne wish Sabine and Anne the very best in their travels and would like to thank them for all their hard work…come back and visit us SOON!

The Crew from Explore NZ came along to Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers Hostel and Bar last night to host their first ever Thursday night Backpackers Bar promotion. It started off civilised with the Crew teaching The Fat Camel Backpackers how to tie various knots!

Everyones new-found skills were then used for a slightly different purpose; tying up one of the other youth hostel guests!

The winner of a 2-4-1 sailing trip on the America’s Cup Boat was the first to untie themselves from their chair. (We did delay the competition slightly just because it was funny seeing them wondering what was going on!)

Euro Cup 2008 was watched live in the Cairns Nomads Serpent Backpackers Hostel. Last Friday Holland was playing France, and the Nomads Serpent Backpackers Bar filled with supporters!

The famous orange colour for the Dutch supporters was taking over the room. The game was amazing and both teams played great. A quick start for Holland…within 10 minutes the Dutchies scored their first goal! The Cairns Backpackers went crazy as the excitement grew in anticipation for the next goal!

The score was 4-1 in the end with Holland as the winner. All the Dutch Backpackers were celebrating while the French fans went quietly to their rooms!

Nomads Serpent Backpackers Hostel and Bar is a great place to watch sporting events from all over the world, there is always a fun atmosphere!

Hey, this is Stephie, Esplanade’s temporary receptionist. I’ll be leaving Cairns this week, but Angie wanted me to share my experience at Nomads Esplanade Backpackers Hostel with the rest of you first.

My fave thing about Esplanade Backpackers Hostel is the location right on the water front and across form the lagoon which is beautiful and free to everyone! Around the lagoon is a large grass area where everyone hangs out during the day. Over the weekends they have live bands on which are usually really good. In the six weeks I have been hear I have only heard one band I didnt like and that was a man singing Folk music, God Love him! All along the water front are BBQ’s aswell which again are free to use!

The rooms in Nomads Esplanade Youth Hostel are really quite nice as long as you’ve got a group of clean people sharing with you. They are quite spacious with your own personal locker that you need to supply your own lock for. I’ve got a really nice room and can see the water front from it.

Another great bit ’bout the youth hostel is Wednesday Pizza Nights, which is sponsored by Cadences Night Club. You pay three dollars and you get a large Pizza from a pizza company begining with D and ending in o’s. Then after everyone sits around the pool and eats their pizza we all go to Cadence for Power Hour. If you’re from Nomads Esplanade Backpackers Hostel you get in for $8 and its all you can drink for 1hr.

Well, I’ll be heading down the East Coast now in an RV. Angie says it might be a good idea for the rest of you to stay off the road, but I think she is only joking. Just remember if you want to a fun time here in Cairns, stay at Nomads Esplanade Backpackers Hostel!

The party atmosphere is a nightly occurrence for the two youth hostels, with different activities planned for each day of the week, including wild times at a variety of Sydney hot-spots. Apparently sick and tired of hanging around the fairer sex day in and day out at our Sydney Youth Hostel, our Matt is in need of some male support to help him look after all our lovely female backpackers.
